WIPRO Mission 10X (Faculty Development Program)

Gwalior Engineering College organized Five days Faculty Development program – Mission 10x from 26th to 30th of April 2010. This program conduct by Wipro Technology with Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology.

 

The program Mission 10X was inaugurated by Mr. Pradeep Sen, Mr. Udai Narayan Ganguly, Trainers and Facilitator , Wipro,  Er. Amar Sharma & Dr. D.P. Sharma of GEC on 26th April 2010.

Mission10X, a not profit trust, created by Wipro Limited was launched on Teachers Day 5th September 2007. It was initiated with the aim of enhancing the employability skills of the engineering graduates across India.

Mission10X is sensitive to the contemporary intellectual developments in the human and social sciences and derives its essence from multiple disciplines, methods and approaches. The learning approach is a layered set of workshops. These workshops offer unique opportunity to the faculty members of engineering colleges to go beyond their conventional teaching practices and experiment with innovative learning techniques and styles which help them broaden the framework of teaching and enrich their working style in the institutions of learning. This helps in bringing about a change in the ecological unit. Dr. Blooms Taxonomy and Dr. Howard Gardeners Multiple Intelligence Theory some of the fundamental theories of Pedagogic change form as integral part of the Mission10X Learning Approach. As recognition of their effort in bringing innovation into their classrooms, the workshops provide an opportunity to the faculty community to acquire three certifications that also contribute towards their professional development.

Mission10X is important step in this direction, which can enhance the employability landscape of graduating Engineers. With the support from the top management of the company and academia’s active enrolment, Mission10X is well on its way to empower 10,000 faculties by 2010.

 

This workshop was free of cost for the Faculty and facilitated by Gwalior Engineering College.

 

There were total of 30 participants. Mr. Pradeep Sen  introduced this program in brief to the faculties and then divided the faculties in two groups of 15 members each. Between these two groups Mr. Pradeep Sen facilitated one and other was facilitated by Mr. Udai Narayan Ganguly.

These two faculties continued with their presentation for two days like introduce your self, first day in the class, first lecture in the class, share  your experience, etc. The presentation made by faculties shoot in terms of video clippings to show the area of improvements  like their gestures, their postures, their volume, their body language and many more, from which they suffer while teaching in the classroom.

On third day Mrs Veena Usr shared her knowledge with faculties and enriched them with many fundamental knowledge regarding teaching session plans, role play, using analogy ,using Blooms Taxonomy etc. The faculties played various games through which they learnt various methodology of teaching.

Mrs. Shila Hooli joined the faculties on the last day. She gave a presentation about WIPRO and shared some points regarding WIPRO to the faculty members.

After successful completion of this FDP faculties receive three different certificates. They were of WIPRO Mission 10X Certificate, DELL Canarige  High Impact Teaching Skills Certificate and Cambridge Certification.
